Little toys in our big world- photographs by #Discret
Cult toys live in our reality thanks to the master of staging Arnaud Brecht :)
Meet one of my favorite photographers, Arnaud Brecht nickname Discret. I discovered Arnaud’s works a year ago on Instagram. The first image I saw intrigued me and aroused my sympathy. Each photograph tells us an individual story. When I look at the Arnaud’s pictures, I get the impression that all these tiny figurines live on their own in our reality, and Arnaud accidentally meets them and takes the pictures. The heroes of Arnaud’s photographs are mostly Lego toys, Smurfs, Super Heroes, Star Wars, Marvel, Snoopy, Simsons, figurines and vintage little cars and many other iconic toys. I have a huge fondness for the majority of toys that Arnaud photographs. I myself used to play and collect Smurfs, I remember what an experience for me was the first Lego set;) also figures of my favorite characters (Tintin, Dory, BB8, R2D2, Bmax, Snoopy and many others) of the iconic movies, are models of Discret, so the works of this French artist are enchanting for me.
Tiny figures turn out to be wonderful models. They interact with the environment, often give the impression as if talking to each other, playing, occupied with their own affairs. There are beautiful photographs, often made in the symbolic places of Paris, but also in various scenes and locations as it rarely happens that Arnaud Brecht would not have with him a few figures or vintage cars. A chance may always happen to take a good shot.
It all began in 2011. Then, during a family celebration, Arnaud Brecht photographed the group of Smurfs arranged by his nephew on a coffee table. As he describes it himself, then he experienced the pleasant feeling, similar to those that he felt when he was a child and played with Smurfs. Photos he took on that memorable day arose sympathy of the Internet users and the artist’s imagination gave him new ideas. In a trunk on the attic he found his childhood toys and started buying the new ones, finding a great passion in photographing toys. Over the years, @Discret has the crowd of fans and admirers.
